#Monopoly

Interventions, «Here/Taganka», «Electrozavod» galleries etc

In the «#Monopoly» series Paul Solovyev meditates on the desire of power and will of authority to expropriate property, appropriate images, statements, language, and even the existential essence of an artist.

Solovyev's interventions appropriate not only the objects exhibited — the result of mass production of cultural values, — but as well the exhibition process itself, as a happening that occurs in the eyes and mind of the beholder with all the accompanying flow of interpretations and representations.

Both works and artists in the resulting flow become nothing more than a marker of the territory within social communication and satellite to it resistance originate.

In the same way the apropriating explication compulsively and to the point of confusion mimics and replaces the original explication of the show.

Thus the intervention articulating labels surround the exhibition gallery space outside and define the boundaries of the occupied territory and at the same time occur different entry points for the spectator, who is prowling in search of entertainment for every taste: there is going to be a room for a voyeuristic guilty pleasure as well as for a closed intellectual party and for a showcase abundantly bursting with goods of cultural consumption.
